Maribyrnong City Council is officially inviting local community groups to bring their heartfelt projects to life through the Community Grants Program (Annual) 2026-27. Backed by a total funding pool of $290,000, the initiative offers grants of up to $25,000 to transform grassroots ideas into meaningful reality.
At its core, this program supports community-led projects that foster true connection, inclusion, wellbeing, and resilience across our entire municipality.
What Kind of Projects Are Funded?
Council is looking to fund initiatives that respond directly to local needs, creating everyday opportunities for our residents to connect, learn, participate, and thrive. Your idea might look like:
- Grassroots wellbeing programs
- Welcoming neighbourhood initiatives
- New, collaborative partnerships between local groups
“Ultimately, whether it’s a community-led initiative, a wellbeing program, or a new partnership, we’re proud to invest in these projects. By doing so, we can strengthen connections and, as a result, help our diverse communities thrive.” — Cr Mohamed Semra, City of Maribyrnong Mayor
New Funding Priorities for 2026-27
Council refreshed the grant program this year to better align with emerging community needs and strategic goals. We will give priority funding to:
- First Nations-led projects
- Initiatives supporting priority communities
- Collaborative partnerships between local organisations and community groups
