The Consulate General of Greece in Sydney has commemorated its 100th anniversary by hosting a vibrant multi-day cultural program. The celebrations honored a century of diplomatic service and community connection since the mission’s founding in 1926, when Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos arrived as the first Consul General on May 20 of that year.
To mark the milestone, members of the Greek-Australian community gathered across various venues for a series of events encompassing live comedy, interactive discussions, and theatrical performances.
Over the past century, the diplomatic mission has served as a pivotal institution for the diaspora, building enduring cultural and civic bridges between Greece and Australia.
