DARWIN — The vibrant sights, sounds, and flavours of the Pacific Islands are set to take over the Darwin coastline next week for the highly anticipated Pasifika by the Sea festival.
Hosted by the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory (MCNT), the family-friendly cultural showcase will kick off at 3:00 pm on Friday, 18 September 2026, at the iconic Darwin Surf Life Saving Club in Brinkin. The festivities will run late into the evening, wrapping up at 10:00 pm.
The event promises a fully immersive celebration of Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia. Against the backdrop of a classic Darwin sunset, attendees can expect a packed line-up of traditional cultural dances, powerful rhythmic drumming, and live musical performances from local Pacific Islander talent.
Food lovers will be well catered to, with a variety of authentic food stalls serving up island-style barbecue and traditional Pacific dishes. In addition to the food and entertainment, local vendors will showcase handmade jewellery, woven crafts, and traditional clothing at the beachside twilight markets.
Pasifika by the Sea is a free, non-ticketed community event open to all ages, highlighting the rich cultural diversity that shapes the modern Top End community.
