An Exciting cultural dance program is open for children and youth aged 6-18 years. Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts promotes and teaches the positive fundamentals of pacific culture through dance, language, music and creative arts. The staff and student community of Matavai work towards creating healthy, spiritual connections by offering lessons to our young ones to learn more on their roots and reconnecting the Australian- Pacific community with their history and ancestors.
Matavai was established in 2013 where they became the first center of its kind in Sydney, Australia. They work towards promoting unity and connection to culture through the education of all ages in Pacific cultural arts. This community also advocates for issues that affect our Pacific community both in Australia and overseas.
The Directors are proud Pacific people. Honoured to be from a culture that thrives and continues to survive despite the environmental and social challenges of modern age. They believe the community must never compromise who they are. They encourage the communities to understand that although our island homes are small, we united are the people of the biggest ocean in the world ‘Tagata o le moana’; Pacifica”.
Join in for a fun, inclusive and supportive environment where you can explore the rich traditions of Pacific Cultures. As you join the beautiful dance program you will gain understanding of the Pacifica culture. No experience required everyone is welcome to participate, learn and celebrate culture together.
