AIM Talent Awards 2024: A Night of Multicultural Talent and Community Spirit

On the evening of September 19, 2024, the AIM Association proudly hosted the highly anticipated AIM Talent Awards at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown. This sold-out event saw an audience of nearly 300 guests come together to celebrate Australia’s rich tapestry of multicultural talent. With electrifying performances and an atmosphere brimming with excitement, the event proved to be an extraordinary showcase of creativity and cultural diversity.

The night kicked off with a warm welcome from our host, TV personality Carol Ferrone, who set the tone with her dynamic presence and engaging energy. The event opened with a traditional Welcome to Country by Uncle John Dickson, honouring the land and its Indigenous heritage. Carol also extended heartfelt thanks to our event supporters, Bankstown RSL, Multicultural NSW, and our media partner, Oz Arab Media.

In attendance were several dignitaries and community leaders who showed their support for the local arts and multiculturalism. We were honoured to welcome The Hon Mark Coure MP, Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, Jobs, Industry, Innovation, Science, and Technology; The Hon Lynda Voltz MP, Member for Auburn; as well as Mayor of Canterbury Bankstown Clr. Bilal El Hayek and Deputy Mayor Clr. Rachelle Harika, along with Canterbury Bankstown Councilors David Walsch and Chris Cahill. Their presence underscored the importance of the event as a celebration of multicultural talent and community spirit.

Throughout the evening, audiences were treated to a range of spectacular performances by talented individuals and groups, each bringing something unique to the stage. From drumming and dancing to powerful vocal performances, the diversity of talent was awe-inspiring. One of the evening’s most memorable acts was 17-year-old Keira Blackmore, who ultimately took home the top prize. Her stunning rendition of The Winner Takes it All captivated both the audience and the judges, solidifying her as the deserving winner of the AIM Talent Awards 2024.

Second place was awarded to Joe Ramen, a one-man band whose unique fusion of bluegrass rhythms and vibrant street performances left a lasting impression. Third place went to Abalenga, an Afro-Latino group of five talented women who brought the rich musical traditions of Colombia’s Caribbean coast to life with their soulful and energetic performance.

The judging panel, composed of industry professionals, had the tough task of selecting winners from such a talented pool of performers. This year’s panel included philanthropist and socialite Nissy Mattar, Alive 90.5 FM Chairman Andsley Dennis, Mrs. Universe Australia Charity Queen Sophia Sarkis, talent agent Alexy Francis, and Miss Charity Australia Karenza De Leon. Their expertise and dedication to promoting local talent were invaluable in ensuring a fair and engaging competition.

The night also featured a special performance by beatboxing sensation Joel Turner, whose rhythmic creativity and dynamic style thrilled the audience and added another layer of excitement to the event.

The AIM Talent Awards 2024 not only celebrated the outstanding talent within our community but also highlighted the power of the arts in fostering cultural understanding and unity. We are incredibly proud of all the participants who took part in this year’s competition and grateful for the support of our sponsors and partners, whose contributions made this event possible.
