Western Australia marked Australia Day 2026 by honoring its rich multicultural fabric through a series of vibrant community events, cultural performances, and immersive activations across Perth.


Morning Highlights: Morning Smoking Ceremony & Breakfast

The day’s celebrations began at Victoria Gardens in East Perth, where Auspire hosted a Welcome to Country and traditional Smoking Ceremony.

  • Performers: Corroboree for Life
  • Attendance: Around 200 community members gathered to experience the cultural tradition.
  • Community Breakfast: Following the ceremony, the Rotary Club of Heirisson hosted a barbecue breakfast for attendees.

Afternoon Celebrations: City of Perth Multicultural Zone

Festivities continued in the afternoon at Langley Park, featuring diverse multicultural showcases and interactive entertainment.

  • Reflect Respect Celebrate Film Dome: Auspire brought back the popular Film Dome, featuring screenings of:
    • Koora Koora: A Long Long Time Ago (Aboriginal storytelling and illustrations)
    • Our Australian Values
  • Live Performances: Visitors enjoyed a dynamic lineup of international cultural performances, including:
    • Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony

  • Giveaways: Guests visiting the Film Dome received Australia Day merchandise bags filled with handwaver flags, cling koalas, and commemorative caps.
