NAIDOC: Coolamon Workshop

Next week on Saturday27th of June from 10 am to 11 am a Coolamon Workshop will be held for the Naidoc Week. Creativity, culture, and connection come together in this unique women-only workshop. Participants are invited into a welcoming space designed for self-expression, reflection, and community.

Inspired by the coolamon, a traditional Aboriginal carrying vessel used by women, the workshop celebrates storytelling and cultural knowledge. Through clay art, participants explore themes of resilience, identity, and feminine strength.

Guided by creativity and personal meaning, each woman shapes her own coolamons using symbols, patterns, and imagery. Every piece becomes a reflection of her journey, experiences, and aspirations.

The relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by ambient music and meaningful conversation. Friends, sisters, aunties, and newcomers can connect in a safe and uplifting environment.

A special feature of the workshop is the tradition of re-gifting. The two coolamons each participant creates are gifted to women attending a future workshop.

In return, participants select coolamons created by women before them and decorate them with shimmering gold metallic finishes. This exchange creates a lasting connection through creativity, story, generosity, and sisterhood.
